Obituary of Florence E. Dunlop

Florence E. "Flossie" Dunlop, 73, of State College, died Monday, June 13, 2022, at Juniper Village at Wellspring, in State College, surrounded by her family.

Born September 14, 1948, in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late Evelyn Wilson & Pietro Evangelista. On July 18, 1970 she married H. James Dunlop, who survives at home.

Flossie is survived by two daughters, Lisa M. Spock & Lori D. Phillips, both of State College; four grandchildren, Anna-Faye Spock, Molly Spock, Braeden Phillips and Cooper Phillips; and one sister, Elida Evans-Lewandowski, of Youngstown, Ohio.

Flossie was a 1966 graduate of State College Area High School. She retired from the math department at Penn State University after 25 years of service.

Flossie was a devoted and selfless mother to her daughters. They considered her their mother and best friend. She was known as "Mimi" to her grandchildren, and she could often be found cheering them on at a sporting event or attending a school event. They were quite proud when reaching the milestone of passing Mimi in height! In addition to her human grandchildren, Flossie loved her dogs and always had two Labradors to spoil. Friends remember her witty and fun-loving personality.

Flossie was an avid golfer and after her girls were grown, Flossie & Jim had many golfing vacations. One special trip was to Scotland to play the Open courses.

Visitation will take place Saturday June 18th from 12-2pm. A funeral service will follow. Burial will be private.
