Obituary of Margaret Roberts

Margaret Mary Roberts, 86, of State College, died Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. Born May 2, 1925 in Wilmington, Delaware, she was the daughter of Gordon and Margaret Mary Masterson McCormick. She married Nicholas Roberts on May 9, 1953, who preceded her in death on November 28, 1970. She is survived by two children, Paul S. Roberts and his wife, Leslie, of Julian, Mark J. Roberts and his wife, Bee Yan, of State College, two grandchildren, Paul C. Roberts, of Arlington, VA, Su-Jen K. Roberts, of New York City, NY, one brother, Gordon McCormick, of Fairfax, VA and one sister, Rita Tyrrell and her husband, William, of Vienna, VA. She was predeceased in death by a sister, Alice Jacklin Margaret lived, raised a family, and worked as a nurse in hospitals and nursing homes in the northern Virginia area for forty years before moving to State College in 1995 to be closer to her family. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in State College. Throughout her life, her many interests included baking, gardening, birds, reading and travel. Her kindness and warm smile were her greatest gifts to all who knew her. A private memorial service will be at held in Fairfax County, VA. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Fairfax, VA. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church at 820 Westerly Parkway, State College, PA 16801. Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College.
