Obituary of Sylvia Fae Catchen

Sylvia Fae Catchen, 99, of State College, died Saturday, September 3, 2022, at Embassy At Hearthside.

Born December 31, 1922, in Johnstown, she was the daughter of the late Elliott and Ida Leuin Levine. On June 16, 1946, she married Michael Catchen, who preceded her in death on January 27, 2002.

She is survived by two children, Gary L. Catchen, Ph.D. of State College and Ruth Catchen of Denver, CO; one brother, Macy I. Levine, MD of Pittsburgh; four grandchildren, Jaime Catchen, Michael Catchen, Aaron Catchen, and Julian Catchen, Ph.D.; and three great-grandchildren, Wyatt Catchen, Sawyer Catchen, and Emerson Catchen.

Sylvia earned her Bachelor of Science from The Juilliard School of Music in New York City in 1946. She was a piano teacher.

She was of the Jewish faith.
