Obituary of Jerry Santoro

Jerry Santoro was born in November of 1926 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was a proud 1'st generation son of Italian immigrants. He attended Westinghouse HIgh School and served as an airplane mechanic on the USS Randolph in World War 2. After the War he joined his father and brothers Frank and Robert in a business that supplied mirrors and shower doors to home builders in North Suburban Pittsburgh. During the 1970's he and Frank built homes and apartment buildings in Northern Allegheny County. He was an avid private pilot, owning a Cessna Skyhawk and flying on many trips with his wife Florence and friends at the Deer Lakes Pilots Club. He was a wonderful father and grandfather who showed by example the virtues of hard work, honesty and compassion. Upon retirement in 1999 he cared for his wife Florence, who passed away in 2006. For two years he was cared for at Elmcroft and by Grane Hospice. Jerry is survived by brothers Robert and David, sons William and Gerald, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A private graveside service will be held at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Pittsburgh. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Centre County PAWS, 1401 Trout Road, State Collge, Pa, 16801.
