Obituary of George Packer

George Albert Packer, 74, of Bellefonte, died Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. Born September 19, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan, he was a son of the late George Alfred and Phyllis Elizabeth Hakala Packer. He is survived by his loving wife, Darlene F. Trobaugh, who married him 44 years ago on February 17, 1968. He is also survived by four children, Russell M. Packer and George A. Packer, both of Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, Tammy Nehila and her husband, John, Vicky Wilson and her husband, Michael, both of Detroit, Michigan, seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, two sisters, Joyce Skindell and her husband, Edward, of Lapeer, Michigan, Lillian Argeline, of Carmel, Indiana and one brother, Thomas Packer and his wife, Pat, of Boise, Idaho. George was employed as a supervisor/manager of Communications and Engineering thirty-seven years for the Consolidated Rail Corporation both in Detroit, Michigan and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A Private family Memorial service will be held on Friday, May 11, 2012 at Zion Community Church with the Pastor Robert Tvis officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Gary Sinise Foundation.org or Guidedogs of America.org.
