Obituary of John Kocher

John Henry Kocher, 79, of Pa Furnace, died Sunday, June 10, 2012 at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. Born March 22, 1933, in Altoona, he was a son of the late John Henry and Helen Peters Kocher Sr. He married Margaret Ann Hartle on November 20, 1954, who survives at home. He is survived by three children, Nancy Ann Hamner and her husband Phil, of Willow Springs, Mo, Dorothy H. Markle and her husband James, of State College, Gary J. Kocher and his wife Christie, of Pa Furnace and ten grandchildren. John was a 1952 graduate of State College Area High School. He spent his life as a farmer. He was a member of the Fairbrook United Methodist Church where he was a former Deacon and a member of the Fairbrook Couples Club. He took pride in raising good crops. He was a Master Farmer. He was a member of the Baileyville Grange #1991, Ag Forum of Centre County, Holstein Association and Jack's Place Hunting Camp where he enjoyed hunting. He was past president of the Centre County Farm Bureau. He was a great Penn State and Steelers football fan. He enjoyed and never missed Ag Progress Days. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at the Fairbook United Methodist Church, 4201 West Whitehall Road, Pa Furnace, PA 16865. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 14, 2012 followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Gene W. McCallips officiating. Burial will be in Graysville Cemetery in Pa Furnace. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fairbrook United Methodist Church at 4201 W. Whitehall Road, Pa Furnace, PA 16865 or the Parkinson's Disease Foundation at 710 West 168 St. New York, NY 10032.
