Obituary of Robert Tudek

Robert E. Tudek of State College, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 20, 2012, surrounded by his immediate family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born May 1, 1926 in Glassport, a son of the late John and Helen Tudek. A graduate of Glassport High and of University of Pittsburgh, he was a Professional Relations Representative for Pennsylvania Blue Shield and then District Manager and Executive Secretary of Muscular Dystrophy before moving to State College where he became Vice President and General Manager of Centre Video, In 1970, he and his late partner, Everett Mundy, founded Tele-Media Corporation and in May of 1988 was inducted into the Cable TV Pioneers. He is survived by his dearly devoted and beloved wife of 60 years, Elsie. He is also survived by two children, Robert Tudek Jr. and his wife, Jennifer Allen, of Lincoln, VT and Peggy Tudek, of West Tisbury, MA; five granddaughters, Corey and Caitlin Best, Aylee, Yana and Leeya Tudek; one great granddaughter, Angelina Pickens; one brother, Roman Tudek and his wife, Angie and one sister, Helen Milligall, of Glassport. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Tudek. Friends will be received at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College, Sunday, June 24, 2012 from 5-8 p.m. The funeral mass will be held at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Grays Woods, Monday, June 25, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Charles Amershek Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Centre County Memorial Park with military rites. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tom Tudek Memorial Park Fund, c/o Mark Kunkle, Township Mgr. and Trustee, 3147 Research Dr., State College, PA 16801.
