Obituary of Bernardine Horstman

Bernardine Stein Horstman, 92, of State College formerly of Aspinwall, departed this life on July 6, 2012. Bernie was born in Pittsburgh on April 21, 1920 to the late William Stein and Margaret Sahr Stein. She was married to Regis J. Horstman in Pittsburgh on August 30, 1941 who died October 19, 1991. They lived in Aspinwall throughout their married lives together. Surviving are her children, Sandra L. Douthitt and her husband, Daniel ,of Patton TWP, John N. Horstman and his wife, Sherry, of Celebration, Florida, and Nancy L. Lovitz and her husband, Glenn, of The Woodlands, Tx. She is also survived by her sister Lois Bruckner of Penn Hills, sister-in-law Alma Stein of Palmdale, CA, six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Bernie was preceded in death by a brother, William Stein, a sister, Virginia Fisher, and a grandson, Jeffrey Douthitt. She was previously employed as a telephone operator for Kauffman's Department Store, Pittsburgh and Bell Telephone Company of Pennsylvania. Bernie attended Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. She was a resident of Greenhills Village in State College since January 2008 where she enjoyed living and received wonderful care from the dedicated staff. Prior to that, she enjoyed life in her Regency Square apartment In State College where she had many friends. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. The family wishes to thank Greenhills Village and their staff for the wonderful care Bernie received during her time there.
