Obituary of Mary Moorman

Mary Moorman, 94, of State College, died Thursday, July 19, 2012 at her residence. Born January 6, 1918, in Providence, RI, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Bessie Paster Rosenson. On July 5, 1944, she married Thomas J. Moorman who preceded her in death. She is survived by her brother Daniel "Dick" Rosenson, of Jericho, NY, her sons and their wives, Michael J. and Nancy L. (Allison) Morrman, of Readfield, ME and Gary W. and Frances E. (Sulya) Moorman, of State College and grandchildren, Nathan D. Moorman, of State College, Sara M. Moorman and her husband Alan Hoskinson, of Watertown, MA, Elizabeth (Moorman) Swift and her husband, Jon, of Cambridge, MA and Jacob Morrman and his wife, Rasha (Hanafy) of Saco, ME and two great grandchildren, Alexander and Somer Moorman of Saco, ME. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Gertrude, Freda and May. She grew up in Amenia, NY, graduated from Amenia High School and worked at the Wassaic State School. During WWII, she was a Seaman Second Class in the Coast Guard. Mary and Thomas lived for many years in Colonie, NY and then Mary moved to State College in 1997. A private funeral service will be held in Colonie, NY with internment in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the charity care program of Centre Crossings Hospice, 2437 Commercial Blvd., State College, PA 16801.
