Obituary of Lee Lynch

Lee Letha M. Lynch 84, of State College, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, July 20, 2012 at Elmcroft in State College. Born in Granville she was the daughter of the late Brady and Henrietta Bender. She was the wife of the late Francis J. Lynch who died in 1968. Lee served as a secretary in the Navy Department stationed in Washington D.C. after graduating from high school. Upon marrying Frank they moved to State College for Frank to attend Penn State University and Lee was a secretary at Penn State University. Eventually moving to Bellefonte and purchasing an apartment building which Lee furnished most of the apartments with antiques she loved collecting and managed the building. Upon Frank's death Lee took her real estate boards and was a realtor for the next 22 years. She started her realtor career with ERA Benchmark Realty. Lee then purchased a personal care home, Pine Ridge Manor, in Philipsburg and managed this facility for ten years. During this time she remarried to the late James K. Rhodes who died in 2002. Upon Jim's death Lee took over Jim's painting contracting business and resigned from this in 2005. Lee loved her family, her pets, and visiting Atlantic City. Lee attended the First Presbyterian Church in Bellefonte while living there, upon moving to State College Lee attended the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. During lee's time at Elmcroft she was instrumental in supporting a church service on Sunday evenings in the facility and with her encouragement the service grew in numbers. Surviving are three children Leslie Aikens and her husband L. James of Millersville, Jay Lynch of Spring Mills, and DiAnne McClenahan and her husband Taylor of Lake Elisinore, CA along with seven grandchildren and three stepchildren. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her memorial service at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 1221 West Whitehall Road, State College, PA 16801 at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2012. Friends may visit with the family at the church immediately following the service.
