Obituary of Elaine Vay

Elaine Mildred (Angert) Vay, 69, of State College, died unexpectedly on Saturday, September 30, 2012 while enjoying time with lifelong friends and high school classmates in Ebensburg, PA. Born on July 17, 1943 in Colver, PA, she was the tenth child of thirteen of the late Walter and Barbara (Kelly) Angert. She is survived by her two children, Pamela Schneider of Manchester, MD and Dawn Maguire of State College, PA, daughters of George Vay, and six grandchildren, Jack, Sarah, and Morgan Schneider, and Katharine, Matthew, and Neil Maguire. She is also survived by her sons-in-law Michael Schneider and Andrew Maguire, eight sisters and three brothers. A loving mother and grandmother, Elaine dedicated her life to God, prayer, friends, and family. She lived in Howard County, MD from 1967 to 1995 where she raised her family and worked as a beautician. Elaine also felt called to care for the elderly and completed her Certified Nursing Assistance license in her mid-fifties. She touched the lives of numerous people in need in Virginia, Maryland, and most recently at Foxdale Village in State College, PA. In addition to her life's work as a CNA, home care aid, and companion, Elaine was honored to receive membership in the Community of the Indwelling Trinity of the Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites, State College in 2011, was a member of the Catholic Daughters, and a parishioner of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Elaine's trust in God and commitment to prayer was always evident by her kindness, grace, and compassion shown to others. Friends and family will be received from 6-8pm, Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at the Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St, State College. All are welcome to pray the rosary at 7:30pm. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30am, Thursday, October 4th at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 820 Westerly Parkway, State College.
