Obituary of Edith Miller

Edith Marie Hamilton Miller, 95, of State College, died Saturday, October 6, 2012 at the Fairways at Brookline Village, State College. Born April 6, 1917, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Charles N. and Marie Philage Hamilton, of Altoona. She married John E. Miller, Jr., who preceded her in death. Mr. Miller had been employed in the College of Education, Summer Sessions Office, until he retired. She is survived by one sister, Helen E. Wible and her husband, Blaine, of Allentown and several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Martha Louise Metzler, and a brother, William C. Hamilton. She was a graduate of the Altoona Area High School in 1935. Edith was a member of the State College Presbyterian Church, State College Chapter #388, order of the Eastern Star, and a Past Matron of that organization. She was also a charter member of Cyrene Shrine #46, White Shrine of Jerusalem, the Past Matron's Association, the Faculty Women's Club, the Penn State Alumni Club and the Centre Community Hospital Auxiliary. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, October 12, 2012 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Joel Blunk officiating. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park.
