Obituary of Thomas Young

Thomas Carrick Young, 91, of State College, PA, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2012 in State College, PA. He was a son of the late Norman H. Young and Lillian Carrick Young. While attending Penn State (Class of 1942), he met the late Jean Stover Young of State College, PA. They were "the love of one another's lives" for 68 years. A 1st Lt. in the 2nd Army Air Force, Mr. Young was active in the First Presbyterian Church, Barbershop & Score in State College, PA. While employed by Cummins Engine Company, he was a leader of high school youth in the First Presbyterian Church in Columbus, Ind. An active member in the First Presbyterian Church in Wheaton, IL, he retired in 1988 from partnership in Smith Bucklin & Assoc. of Chicago, IL. He was a life member of the Penn State Alumnae Assoc., Society of Automotive Engineers, Elks, Kiwanis & a Life Scout. Mr. Young is survived by his daughter Barbara Giblin of Glen Ellyn, IL, three grandchildren & a great grandson. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his son Dr. Robert T. Young & a brother Norman H. Young, Jr. A Memorial Service will be at 2:00 p.m. on December 8, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church, State College, PA. Interment will be private. Memorial Contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 132 W. Beaver Ave., State College, PA. Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College.
