Obituary of Anthony "Tony" Domin

Anthony Charles Domin, 74, of State College, passed away peacefully on Dec. 19, 2012, at home after a long battle with cancer. Born November 18, 1938 in Nanticoke, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph A. Domin and Stella Novak Domin. On July 24, 1960, he married Linda Chambers Domin who survives at home. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, David A. Domin and his partner, Linda Bucci, Bruce C. Domin, his wife Kimberly Kellerman Domin, and granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Domin, all of Leesburg, VA. He is also survived by a sister, Sylvia Domin Saitta of Manasquan, NJ., nieces and nephews Angela (John) Riordan, Jean Marie (Tom) Harris, Gary (Vanessa) Saitta, and Christian (Christy) Domin. He was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph S. Domin of Mesa, AZ. Tony was a 1956 graduate of Nanticoke High School and a 1960 graduate of the Pennsylvania State University, earning a B.A. degree in Mathematics. Following college, he was employed by B&O Railroad, Baltimore, MD as a methods analyst. From 1962-1965 he worked as a methods analyst for IBM Corp., Poughkeepsie, NY and Rockville, MD, working most of the time at the Pentagon. He then returned to the State College area and was employed by the Pennsylvania State University from 1965-1967 as a senior methods analyst. He then left to work locally in private industry for several years. He re-joined the Pennsylvania State University in 1980, serving as senior auditor for computer systems. In 1990 he became Director of the Internal Auditing Department where he remained until his retirement in 2002. Tony was a charter member of the Data Processing Management Assoc., founded in 1965. He was also a member of the College and University Auditors Assoc. Tony attended Grace Lutheran Church. He volunteered his time with Linda, delivering for Meals on Wheels for several years. He was a 48-year member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge #1600 of State College, the Penn State Alumni Assoc., the Nittany Lion Club, and Phi Kappa Theta fraternity. Tony enjoyed racquetball, exercising at the Y.M.C.A., the McDonald's coffee gang, PSU football and tailgating. He loved spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter, Sarah, who was the light of his life. A visitation in the Fireside Room beginning at 12:30 pm will precede a 2 p.m. memorial service, Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Grace Lutheran Church, 205 South Garner Street, State College with Pastor Stevens Lynn officiating. Family and friends are invited to a luncheon at the church immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to either Grace Lutheran Church Building Fund, 205 South Garner St. State College, PA 16801 or to Home Health Nursing Agency - Hospice, 201 Chestnut Ave. PO Box 352, Altoona, PA 16603-0352.
