Lawrence Eugene "Larry" McMullin, 65, of State College and formerly of Alexandria and Barree, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013 at Epworth Manor in Tyrone after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born in Altoona, the son of Dorothy "Dot" McMullin of Epworth Manor, Tyrone, and the late Harold Eugene McMullin on April 4, 1947. He and his family moved to Barree, where he would spend his childhood. He is survived by: His mother; his sister, Veronica Hay and her husband, Paul, of State College; his daughter, Kelly McMullin Port and her husband, Harvie, of Alexandria; his sons, Timothy and his wife, Andrea, of Erie and Andrew and his wife, Zsofia, of Saco, Maine; his grandchildren, Emily, Nora Elizabeth, Molly and Samuel; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. McMullin attended the Spring Creek Presbyterian Church of Lemont. He was a 1965 graduate of Juniata Valley High School, where he was active in sports and extracurricular activities, particularly serving as the varsity basketball team's manager, earning two letters. In his later years, he remained an active booster of JVHS sports, watching his sons activities. Mr. McMullin was an employee of the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, retiring after reaching the rank of store manager. He served thousands of customers in State College, Altoona, Mount Union and Huntingdon, and was most known for working at the Wine and Spirits Shoppe in the county seat. Mr. McMullin was a proud supporter of local athletics in the Juniata Valley as well as Penn State. He was most proud of his participation with the Wounded Warrior Project, which he became acquainted with in his later years. He was fond of cars, and was proud of his Chevrolet Malibu, both from the 1970s and the more recent version he owned. During his later years, he resided near his sister and appreciated the time he was able to spend with her, her husband, their children, and the family dog, Trooper.
