Obituary of William Barnett

William G. Barnett, 88, of State College, died Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home. Born March 10, 1925, in Houtzdale, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Cora Glenn Barnett. On June 3, 1977 he married Kay G. Gunsallus, who survives. Also surviving are two children, David A. Barnett and his wife, Deborah, of State College and Diane K. Punola and her husband, David, of Twin Lake, MI; two step-children, Karen Christine and her husband, Dell, of Lebanon and Douglas Reed of New Cumberland; eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel H. Barnett. He was a 1942 graduate of Houtzdale High School. Also in 1942, he graduated from Coyn Electrical School in Chicago, IL. In 1949 William graduated from the Williamsport Tech School for Electrical Construction. He served in the United States Army during WWII. William worked for the Nu Clyde Corporation as an electrician. He was a Methodist by faith. He was a life member of the Alpha Fire Company in State College and belonged to the NRA. William enjoyed listening to music, recording t.v. programs, dancing and roller skating and helping others. Visitation will be 10 until 11 a.m., on Monday, May 6, 2013 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 South Atherton Street, State College. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Pastor Dan Nold officiating. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alpha Fire Company, 400 West Beaver Avenue, State College, PA 16801. Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College.
