Obituary of Linda Gummo

Linda K. Gummo, 65, of Port Matilda, died Friday, August 23, 2013, at her residence. Born September 15, 1947, in Flemington, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Burton and Evelyn Mildred Jodun Kling. On September 7, 1968, she married Nelson L. Gummo, who preceded her in death on June 5, 1999. She is survived by one brother, Joel Kling and his wife, Ellen, of Ft. Lupton, CO; one grandson, Alex Jacob Gray of Barstow, CA; seven nieces and seven nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Scott Alan Gummo, one brother, David Kling and three sisters, Joanna Johnson, Carol McQuay and Laura Mae Yourell. Linda was a 1965 graduate of Bellefonte High School and a 1966 graduate of Medical Secretary School in Williamsport. She retired in 2001 from Penn State University as a Staff Assistant for the College of Arts and Architecture after 25 years of service. She was a member of the Alpha Iota Sorority, an international business sorority. Linda enjoyed spending time with friends and family, playing cards, crocheting and traveling. Prior to her husband's death, she enjoyed dealing antiques with him. Memorial service will be graveside at 3 p.m., on Thursday, August 29, 2013, at Grays Cemetery, Port Matilda, with the Pastor Ken Patterson of Tyrone Bible Baptist Church officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Po Box 15120, Chicago, IL 60693 or to the American Lung Association, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Suite 800, Washington, DC 20004.
