Obituary of Helene Schollenberger

Helene "Bunny" Schollenberger, 81, of State College, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born July 13, 1929, in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Helene Becker Schaab. On August 27, 1949, she married Harry W. Schollenberger, who survives. She is also survived by five daughters, Carol S. Neufer and her husband, Eric, of Phoenix, Ariz., Kathy S. Gimbel of Huntingdon Valley, Karen A. Schollenberger of Center Valley, Kim J. Baird and her husband, James, of Pittsburgh, and Susan H. Pettengill and her husband, John, of State College; eight grandchildren, Jared and Ian Neufer, Joy Murray and Jeffrey Gimbel, Matthew and Shawn Baird, and Kaitlyn and Joshua Pettengill; and a great-grandson, Jaxson Murray. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Anne Schoenewald. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in State College. Her interest included gardening, needlework, travelling with her husband, and Penn State Sports. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 19, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, at the funeral home with the Rev. Bryan Spang officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hall Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 851 N. Science Park Road, State College, PA 16803, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
