Obituary of June Stafford Wardell

June Stafford Wardell, 89, of State College, passed away March 20, 2015 after a long illness. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Victory Church in State College , PA on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 12:30. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Kenmore, NY. June was born in Western NY to Everett Stafford and Rosalie Latshaw Stafford. She is survived by a brother, Richard Stafford and recently lost her dear sister, Marion Stafford Strozyk. She married Gerald Wardell of North Tonawanda in 1947 who predeceased her. She was the mother of three children, Kathleen Hulburt (Peter), Leslie Wardell (Marlene) and Lou Ann Pedersen (William). She is survived by 6 grandchildren: Christopher Hulburt, Benjamin Hulburt, Kevin Hulburt, Marisa Wardell Fasolino, Ryan Wardell and Emily Pedersen and 9 great grandchildren. June attended South Park High School in Buffalo and was employed for many years as a professional secretary. She resided in North Tonawanda, NY, Cuba, NY and for the last years of her life in State College, PA. She was active in numerous community organizations, among them: Professional Secretaries Association, NYS Exchange Club, JCs. and the Mount Nittany Residence Tenant Organization. She volunteered as a Literacy Coach and at St. Vincent De Paul Thrift Store. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church. June enjoyed her grandchildren, reading, crossword puzzles and the Buffalo Bills. Her favorite place was a family cottage in the Thousand Islands. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Catholic Charities or the American Heart Association. Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College.
