Obituary of Howard Harry Held

Howard Harry Held, 80, of State College, died Sunday, May 5, 2024, at home.

Born May 3, 1944, in Apollo, PA. He was the son of the late Blair and Ruth Alcorn Held. On June 8, 1968 he married Judith Ann Haag Held, who survives.

In addition to his wife, Howard is survived by a son, Jason Held and his partner Ting Chen of St. Louis, MO and a brother, Jeff Held and his wife Kathy of Apollo PA. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Alice Maye Gwizdak.

Howard served in the United States Army. He obtained a bachelor's degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a master's degree from Trenton State University in Mathematics. He worked as a secondary math teacher at Council Rock High School, Newtown, PA for thirty-one years.

He was an active member of Park Forest Village United Methodist Church.
