Obituary of David D. Gibboney

David Dodge Gibboney, 48, of State College died Monday, May 9, 2016 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, of viral pneumonia. David is survived by his parents, Ann and Richard Gibboney of State College, aunt, Ellen Bryant; two uncles, John Cronnover and James Dodge and his wife, Margaret; and many loving and supportive cousins. David was born in Lewistown on September 11, 1967. He graduated from Lewistown High School in 1986. David earned a Bachelor of Fine Art degree from Temple University in 1990, a Master of Fine Art from Hunter College, and a Master of Art History from New York University. He worked as a designer for Ralph Lauren in New York City before becoming a cultural liaison for the Diocese of New York. He later moved to Atlanta and taught art in a gifted program. Most recently he worked as a technician in drug and alcohol counseling at Pine Ridge Manor in Tyrone as he prepared to be certified as a drug and alcohol counselor. He felt strongly that he wanted to contribute to those in need. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 10:30a.m. at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 208 W Foster Ave, State College, with the Rev. Doug Dailey officiating. David will be inurned in the columbarium at St. Andrew's. A reception will follow in Canterbury Hall.
