Obituary of John V. Janik

John V. Janik, 78, lost his battle with cancer on November 9, 2023 at his home in State College, PA. He was born in New Britain, CT to Valentine and Stella Janik, and graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School and Liberty University. He resided in Southington, CT for 35 years before splitting his time between State College, PA and WIlmington, NC for the last 14 years. He leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Brenda (Busnarda) Janik and their two sons, Dr. Michael Janik, his wife Dr. Shannan Smith-Janik, grandsons Samuel and Joseph of State College and Dr. Matthew Janik, his wife Kristine, grandsons Wesley, J. P., and Mills of Wilmington. He is survived by a brother, Thomas Janik of Southington, CT, brother-in-law Brent Busnarda and wife Marsha of Kensington, CT, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Marie Mroz, Sophie Janik, and Genevieve Labieniec.

John worked many jobs in his career, and was proud of his ability to sell anything to anybody. He volunteered and procured supplies for the Southington Soup Kitchen and the Meriden Shelter Now. He was an avid New York Yankees and New York Giants fan. John enjoyed cheering on his grandsons in their sports and dance events.

Public Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, from 6-8pm at the Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at 10am at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 820 Westerly Pkwy, State College, with Father George Jakopac officiating. Burial will follow church services.
