Obituary of David E. Herrmann

David E. Herrmann, 82, of State College, passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Foxdale Village- Anthony House.

Born March 2, 1941, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late A. Martin and Clara Veith Herrmann.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Albert M. Herrmann and James J. Herrmann; and a sister, Mary Clare (Mitzi) Snyder.

He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends across the country.

Dave was a 1958 graduate of St. James High School in Pittsburgh, PA. After high school, he enlisted in the Army and then continued serving our country in the Reserves.

In 1968, he graduated from Penn State University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree. Following graduation, Dave went on to work as a salesman for various companies in the telecommunications industry, retiring from Vision Telecommunications, Inc. In his "Golden Years", Dave loved working in the deli department of Wegman's, making many more friends.

Dave was an outdoor and sports enthusiast. He loved hunting and fly fishing, the Steelers, Pittsburgh Pirates and of course Penn State! Upon his relocation to the State College area, he was a long-time bartender and friend at Duffy's Tavern. He enjoyed novels by Hemmingway, old movies, fast cars and motorcycles, his kitties and the Waffle House. Most of all he loved his family.

Visitations will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023 from 1-3pm and 5-6pm at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College, PA. Memorial service will follow at 6pm with Celebrant, Jackie Naginey Hook officiating.

Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Pittsburgh at the convenience of the family.
