Obituary of Terry Rodger Roof

Terry Rodger Roof, 73, of State College, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023, peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Cause of death was secondary HLH and a rare form of bone marrow cancer. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Margaret and two sons, Ryan & Gareth.

Born February 19, 1950, in Indiana, PA, he was the son of the late Bernard and Isabel (Miller) Roof and has two sisters Susan (Sal) Citraro and Cynthia Black. Terry is survived by many nieces, nephews, friends and family members who will miss his laughter, talks, and encouragement.

Terry graduated from Marion Center High School in 1968. He earned his BS degree in industrial engineering from Penn State in 1972, and his MBA in business from Boston University. He was employed for 38 years at Armstrong World Industry. After retiring from Armstrong, Terry obtained his CDL license and chose to drive bus for Fullington Trailways. Terry always enjoyed finding new destinations to travel to with his family, always looking forward to the next vacation or cruise.

He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, where he was a cantor and sang in the choir. He sang with the Nittany Knights Barbershop group, of which he was president for the last two years. Terry was also an active member of the Alumni Blue Band. He was actively involved with the Special Olympics as assistant coach for volleyball and tennis, which allowed him to support Gareth and many other individuals over the years.

Funeral Service will be December 27, 2023@1:30pm at Grace Lutheran Church, 205 S. Garner St., State College, with Pastor Carolyn Hetrick officiating.

Inurnment will be in the Grace Lutheran Church Columbarium.
