This month our theme is “Guilt and Blame: Do You Hold On or Let Go?” Guilt, regret, blame and shame can all be part of the grief journey. They can also be painful to hold on to and difficult to release. To begin the process of releasing them, it’s important to understand what they mean.

  • Guilt is taking responsibility and feeling remorse for our actions.
  • Regret is “wishing” we had done something differently.
  • Blame is finding fault with ourselves or others.
  • Shame is feeling badly or making others feel badly about who we/they are as people.
