People often ask me how I can do the work I do. They believe that spending time with people who have lost a loved one would be depressing. Just the opposite is true for me. Life becomes very real for people who’ve experienced the death of a loved one and they know what matters most. It is a gift to me to be present with people who know these things. According to author and pastor, Doug Manning, my role is to “hug, hang around, and hush.” And I do all of this while holding hope.
