Margaret Davis

Obituary of Margaret Joanne Davis

Extraordinarily kind and loving to all who knew her, Margaret Joanne Davis, 61, went to be with her Lord on August 31, 2015. She died peacefully in her sleep after an almost seven year fight with leukemia. Her unwavering Faith in God gave her the strength to combat the disease, astonishing and inspiring doctors, family, and friends alike. Her tenacity, truly unequalled, allowed her to survive years beyond doctors’ expectations. Family meant the most to Margaret, so this additional time was a tremendous blessing. Watching her two daughters, Aprille Jordan and Meredith Hill grow to achieve their dreams and develop families of their own gave her the greatest joy and will to survive. Brad and Aprille Jordan blessed Margaret with two granddaughters, Eva and Alanya. Knut and Meredith Hill blessed her with two grandsons, Bekan and Rowan. Margaret adored her grandchildren and loved to read, sing, and play with them. They will have many fond memories of their beloved Oma. Margaret grew up in State College and graduated from State College High School in 1971. Margaret graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BS in Business and Economics with a minor in Criminal Justice from East Stroudsburg University in 1990. Margaret was one of the first women to achieve a master’s degree in Business and Economics from Lehigh University in 1992. Somehow she managed a full time schedule while raising two girls, maintaining the household, and always having a fresh home-cooked meal on the table. Margaret went on to develop her career as a Controller in various companies then later as a Project Manager in others. Her last position, which she greatly enjoyed, was a Project Manager and Senior Consultant to the County Commissioner’s Association of Pennsylvania. Margaret enjoyed traveling, reading, problem solving, and sewing. She left a bit of herself in everything she made. Margaret was a great listener and very supportive of her family and friends. Even during her most challenging times, she always had a hand outstretched to help others. Margaret was very thoughtful and put a lot of loving effort into her relationships. Margaret was creative, giving, hardworking, and resourceful. She learned some of these values from her surviving parents, Joseph C Meyer Jr and Carolyn Bottorf Meyer of Meyer Farm and Meyer Dairy of State College, PA. Margaret is also survived by her brothers Barry and Dennis Meyer and her sister Nancy Smeltzer. She is survived by numerous dear family members. Visitation will be 6pm - 8pm on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St. State College. Funeral service will be 2pm on Sunday, September 6, 2015 at Koch Funeral Home. She died with the utmost dignity and with so many hands lifting her to heaven that the angels hardly had to flutter a wing to bring her home.
