Obituary of Harry Dean Houts

Harry Dean Houts, 77, of State College, went to be with his Lord on September 30, 2015. Harry was born in Lemont, PA to Franklin Garbrick Houts and Bertha Campbell Houts on October 2, 1937. He graduated from State College Area High School (1956) and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Pennsylvania State University (1980). He worked as a Certified Public Accountant in State College for approximately 35 years. Harry loved singing. He served in churches for many years as a choir member or music director. Harry made an album and traveled for two years singing in numerous churches across Eastern Tennessee, North Carolina, and southwest Virginia. Harry’s other passion was for sports of all kinds and loved watching PSU and Steeler’s football games. Harry is survived by his daughter, Petrina E. Grubbs of Bedford, Virginia and by his son, Timothy D. (Teri) Houts of Lynchburg, Virginia; six grandchildren, Ashley (Jon) Grubbs Wallace, Amber Grubbs, Mikayla Houts, Sydney Houts, Gavin Houts, and Logan Houts; and great grandson, D. Craig Nichols III; as well as three brothers, Dr. Richard F. (Janice) Houts of Sioux Falls, SD, Rev. Kenneth O. Houts of Westville, NJ, and Rick D. (Becky) Houts of Houserville, PA. There are several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three siblings, Doris Weaver, R. Frederick Houts, and Donna J. Bjalme. The Funeral service will be held at Oakwood Presbyterian Church: 1865 Waddle Rd State College, PA 16803 on October 8th, 2015 at 11AM with Pastor Tom Houston officiating.
