Obituary of Irma Zipser

Irma Schlow Zipser, 95, of State College, died Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at Juniper Village at Brookline. Born November 5, 1920 in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Bella Silversmith Schlow. She married Harold Zipser, on November 14, 1943, who preceded her in death on October 2, 2001. She is survived by two daughters, Ruth Zipser and her husband, Murray Schoenholtz, of State College, Judy Lang, of State College, two grandchildren, Beth Rosenkowitz and her husband, Lewis, Andrea Cykiert and her husband, Jason and two great grandchildren, Paige Rosenkowitz and Ethan Cykiert. Irma was a 1938 graduate of State College High School. She received a bachelor's degree in Speech from the University of Michigan graduating in 1942. She was employed at the Schlow Quality Dress Shop on College Avenue, State College. She was a founder and member of the Congregation Brit Shalom, State College. She was also a member of the Centre Hills Country Club. She enjoyed playing Bridge and Golf. Shiva will be Saturday, April 16 and Sunday, April 17, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. at 1244-27 Westerly Parkway, State College. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 15, 2016 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College with Rabbi David Ostrich officiating. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park, State College. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Schlow Foundation, 211 S. Allen Street, State College, PA 16801 or Congregation Brit Shalom, 620 E. Hamilton Avenue, State College, PA 16801. Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College.
