Obituary of Leroy Junior Koch

Leroy Junior "Jim" Koch, 80, of Petersburg, died Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at his home. Born October 4, 1937 in Pine Grove Mills, he was the son of the late Leroy T. and Sarah Harris Koch. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen (Foltz) Koch whom he married in State College on June 8, 1958. Also surviving are two daughters, Teresa Rider and her husband Steven of Red Lion, PA and Tracey Willis and her husband Leon of South Hills, VA, three siblings Pearl Dean of State College, Ann Weaver of Lemont and Kenneth Koch and his wife Joyce of McVeytown. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son Theodore Koch in 2012 and two siblings Nancy Schillero and William Koch. Leroy served in the U.S. Army from 1955 until 1958. Upon returning from overseas he apprenticed for a short time and then started his own plastering business, Leroy J. Koch Plastering Contractor and operated it for over 40 years. Throughout his career he worked at numerous Penn State buildings and all through Centre, Huntingdon and surrounding counties. Leroy was a founding and lifetime member of the Stone Creek Valley Volunteer Fire Company. He served as a Jackson Township Supervisor for over 10 years and as a member of the Huntingdon County Planning Commission. Leroy was known to be a generous soul who was glad to help anyone. He took great care of his family and will be dearly missed. Friends will be received from 10 am until 11 am on Monday August 6, 2018 at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, 3644 Church Lane, Petersburg. Funeral services will follow at 11 am at the church with Rev. Evelyn Wald officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St Stephens Lutheran Church Cemetery.
