Obituary of Gabriela Muller Hogg

Gabriela Muller Hogg, 81, of State College, died Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at Juniper Village at Brookline. Born December 8, 1937, in Tel Aviv, Israel, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Rose Spiro Muller. In 1951, her parents divorced, and her mother married Daniel Siemientek of Caracas, Venezuela. Gaby then moved with her mother and new stepfather to Caracas where she lived for the next twelve years, spending most of her adolescence and early adulthood there until moving to the US in 1963. On September 21, 1970, in Chicago, IL, she married Richard (Dick) Hogg who survives at home. She was preceded in death by her mother; father and stepfather; and a half-brother, Patrice Muller of Paris, France whose widow, Renee Muller survives in Nantes, France. Also surviving her are a cousin, Chaim Gutfinger and his wife, Tamar, of Haifa, Israel; a half-brother, Joel Muller and wife, Pascale, of Nice, France; nephew, Andrew Hogg of Wilmington, Delaware; and extended families in France and the UK. Long-time, dear friends from her years in Venezuela who have kept in contact all those years: Anna-Maria Puig of Barcelona, Spain and Barbara Seijas of Grand Blanc Michigan, also survive. Gabriela received a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, from the University of California, Berkley in 1967. She received a Master's degree in Chemistry from Northwestern University in 1970 and pursued further graduate studies at Penn State in the 1970's. Gaby had many, diverse, interests and talents. She was passionate about music, an avid reader, an excellent cook, a keen gardener and was known for her quality needlework, especially knitting. She was fluent in three languages and could communicate in at least three more. Gaby and Dick loved to travel, between visiting friends and family overseas as well as old-fashioned tourism; they saw all but four of the fifty States and all seven continents. For more local travel, in 1989 she finally fulfilled a teenage dream, acquiring a red sports car. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Centre Volunteers in Medicine, State college, 2520 Green Tech Drive, State College, PA 16803.
