Obituary of Mary Ellen Riley

Mary E. Riley, 93, of State College, PA. died on Sunday, September 15, 2019, at The Wynwood House State College.

Born August 26, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Frank Sipala and Alfonsa Schembra. On April 18, 1948, she married the late Charles J. Riley. They resided in North Bellmore, New York for over 60 years before moving to Hilton Head Island in 2012.

Mary is survived by her two children, Dianne Puleo, of Bellefonte, PA, George Riley (Patricia) of Port Matilda, PA; four grandchildren, Sebastian Puleo (Maren), Nicole Duran (Gabe), Charles Riley and Michael Riley; two great-grandchildren, Sebastian and Francesca Puleo. Also surviving is her sister, Rose Fabricatore, of New Port Richey, Florida. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by seven siblings.

Mary was a graduate of Sewahaka High School in Floral Park, NY. She worked as a greenhouse grower for over 25 years at Oberle's florist in East Meadow, NY. Mary was well known in the landscape community for her beautiful Hosta garden. Mary loved the beach and enjoyed numerous years in her "home away from home" in Naples, Florida.

There will be a Mass of the Resurrection @ St. Raphael Catholic Church, East Meadow, NY, on Saturday, November 2 @ 10 am, followed by a burial service at Holy Rood Cemetery, Westbury, NY, beginning at 11:30 am.
