Obituary of Edna Dreibelbis

Edna Alberta Harter Dreibelbis, 88, of Pleasant Gap, died Sunday, November 27, 2011, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. She was a daughter of the late Walter Allen Harter and Anna Mary Clements Harter. On July 19, 1941 she married the late Glenn Wilson Dreibelbis. Edna graduated from Walker Township High School in Hublersburg in 1940. She worked at the Sylvania Plant in Mill Hall during WWII. Then she worked twenty-seven years for the State College Area School District. She retired in 1986 from Fairmont Elementary School as a cafeteria manager. While living in State College Edna was a member of the St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Pine Hall. She was active in church Sunday School as a teacher and superintendent of the children's department. She then belonged to Zion United Church of Christ in Zion and most recently was a member of Faith United Methodist church in Bellefonte. Edna is survived by two children, Allen Wilson Dreibelbis and his wife, Nanci Lee, and Anna Mary Burns and her husband, Dale, all of Mechanicsburg; a brother, Ralph Harter of Zion, two sisters, Nancy Knoffsinger of Zion and Madeline Shivery of Pleasant Gap; six grandchildren, Kiersten, Alexandra and Bennett Dreibelbis, and Cameron, Connor and Gwen Burns. Also surviving are nieces and nephews and a Goddaughter Kim Rittenhouse. In addition to her parents and husband, Edna was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia Ann Dreibelbis, a son, Thomas Dreibelbis; three sisters, Ruby Harter, Dorothy Witherite and Eva Gummo and two brothers, Roy Harter and Nevin Harter. Edna was a beloved mother, nana, grandma, sister and aunt. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 1, 2011, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. Visitation will also be from 10 to 11 a.m. on December 2, 2011 at St. Peter's United Church of Christ. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. on December 2, 2011 at the church with the Rev. Charles A. Fitzgerald of St. Peters and the Rev. Andrew Morgan of Faith United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hall Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Peter's United Church of Christ at 1795 W. College Ave., State College, PA 16801 or Faith United Methodist Church at 512 Hughes St., Bellefonte, PA 16823.
