Obituary of Shirley S. Allan

Shirley S. Allan, 87, of State College, died Monday, November 22, 2021, at Wellspring Memory Care Center.

Born January 20, 1934, in Albany, NY, she was the daughter of the late Leland G. and Mildred Barber Smith. On November 3, 1956 she married Richard Allan, who preceded her in death on April 19, 1993.

She is survived by two children, Nancy A. Royer and her husband Douglas of Spring Mills, and Mark R. Allan of Flemington, NJ; two siblings, Richard S. Smith and his wife Georgianna of New Berlin, NY, and Tad-Marian Berkowitz of Huntersville, NC; three grandchildren, Nathan Royer, Evan S. Allan and Nicholas A. Allan; and one great-granddaughter, Chloe Jean Royer.

Shirley graduated from Watervliet High School, NY in 1951 as Salutatorian. She earned her bachelor's degree in business from Russell Sage College in 1955, graduating with honors.

She worked as a bookkeeper for Robin's Young World, a women's clothing store.
