Obituary of Shirley G. Berlind

Shirley G. Berlind, 96, of State College, died Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at Foxdale Village.

Born July 8, 1925, in Clifton, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Hazel Skinner Grant. In June 1953 she married Malcolm G. Berlind, who preceded her in death in December, 1997.

She is survived by two sons, Brian Berlind and his wife Linda of Brookline, NH, and Malcolm Berlind; two grandchildren, Stephanie and Christopher Berlind; and one great-grandson, Dominic Zanotta. She was preceded in death by her brother, Warren Grant.

Shirley graduated from Clifton High School in Clifton, NJ in 1943. She earned her bachelor's degree from the University of New Hampshire, and her master's degree in Theology from Maryknoll Seminary.

She was an active member of State College Presbyterian Church.

She was an avid reader, loved her daily crossword puzzle, and enjoyed traveling, especially anywhere there were beaches.

Memorial service will be Monday, May 16th, at 2pm, at State College Presbyterian Church, 132 W. Beaver Ave, State College, with Pastor Dean Lindsey officiating.

Interment will be at Gill Center Cemetery, Gill, MA.
