Obituary of Stephen Woytowich

Stephen Woytowich, 86, of State College, passed away on Friday, February 3, 2023, at Valley View Haven in the Valley View Retirement Community.

Born on November 22, 1936 in Old Forge, PA, son of the late Anthony and Mary Gambal Woytowich. On November 7, 1964, Stephen married Annette Haba who preceded him in death. He was known as "Jesse" to his aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is survived by three sons, Mark Woytowich and his wife Christine, David Woytowich, and Michael Woytowich and his wife Jessica, all of State College; and five grandchildren, Zachary, Benjamin, Samuel, Anastasia and Crew. He was preceded in death by his brother, Mitty Woytowich.

Stephen was a 1954 graduate of Old Forge High School. In January 1960, he entered the US Army where he served as a SP Medical Specialist with the 2nd Infantry Division and achieved the distinction of sharpshooter with a rifle.

He worked for Merck Pharmaceuticals where he met his wife and then Bellco Glass in sales. In 1986, Stephen moved to Centre County to continue his career in sales and marketing with Tri-Bio Laboratories and later became the General Manager at Magna Technologies. After retirement he worked on the Penn State farms in Pennsylvania Furnace.

For 64 years, Stephen was a member of the Freemasons. He was a Master Mason and belonged to the State College F & AM Lodge 700, Jaffa Shrine in Altoona and the American Legion Post 245.

In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Early in life he was a member of a Russian Liturgical Men's Choir and later sang in the choir at the Fairbrook United Methodist Church in Pennsylvania Furnace. When not involved with these activities he would be found with his family and friends sharing life stories, passing on his wisdom and the skills he learned in "dad school."
