Obituary of Helen Ann Harpster

Helen Ann Harpster, 86 of Boalsburg, PA died on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at Juniper Village.

Born on October 26, 1936, in Bermuda, she was the daughter of the late Percy Boyd Stephens and Minnie White Stephens. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings Boyd Stephens, Elizabeth Lewis, Pauline Powell, and Peggy Peniston all of Bermuda. She was the last of her generation.

On December 26, 1971, she married Roy F. Harpster who preceded her in death on June 27, 2014.

She is survived by four children: John Yearick, Jr and his wife Marge of Bellefonte; Raymond Yearick and his wife Catherine Olp of Monroe, N.C.; Janet Harpster McMaster and her husband Brian of Goose Creek, SC and Russell Yearick and his wife Amy of Boalsburg, PA.

She is survived by seven grandchildren, William Genet, Faye Yearick, Eliza Weeden, Benjamin Yearick, Travis McMaster, Amber Yearick and Jacob Yearick; seven great-grandchildren, Alex Genet, Araya Weeden, Mia Weeden, Misael Camago, Sophia Yearick, Emma Yearick and Zoey Hartzler.

She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Boalsburg, the PA Percheron Association, the State College Area Softball Association (Hess Field), the Harris Township Game & Fish Association, and the Boalsburg Heritage Museum Board. She retired from The Pennsylvania State University where she worked for many years.

In her lifetime she enjoyed her family and the many events they shared. She enjoyed going and tenting at the Grange Fair. Travel was a great joy in her life which included many trips to her family home in Bermuda. She traveled with her husband, her sister Peggy and her husband Bill. They traveled to many places around the world. She was also an avid quilter and very religious.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 29, 2023 from 10am to 12pm at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College.

A funeral will follow the visitation at 12pm on Saturday with Pastor Brent Book officiating. The burial will be in the Boalsburg Cemetery.
