Obituary of Bennet L. Harris

Bennet L. "Ben" Harris, 92, of State College, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Foxdale Village.

Born August 6, 1930, in Wooster, OH he was the son of the late David and Edith Arlene (Runkle) Harris. On August 8, 1992, he married Louise (Spoerri) Miller, who survives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 29 years, Norma (Brogan) Harris, his first love; Brother's William, Donald, and Richard Harris.

He is survived by his two children, Jennifer Herd and her husband, John, of Perrysburg, OH, and James B. Harris and his wife, Molly, of Oak Harbor, OH; and a step-son, Mark Miller and his wife, Ann, of Stamford, CT; and many nieces and nephews.

Ben served in the Corp of Engineers in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He was a graduate of Fenn College in Cleveland, OH receiving a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. He owned and operated, Material Handling Equipment and Sales which specialized in Industrial Manufacturing.

During his free time, Ben enjoyed attending baseball, football and Penn State Women's Volley Ball games. For many years he volunteered as an usher at the Penn State Home Football games. Ben was also an OSU Buckeye fan. When not watching events, he could be found out on the golf course, on the lake, fishing or spending time with his family. He had an incredible sense of humor.

He was a 33rd degree Master Mason.
