Obituary of Lorraine S. Gritzman

Lorraine S. Gritzman, 93, of Rockville, MD passed away on Friday, September 1, 2023, at the Hebrew Home of Washington.

Born June 25, 1930, in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Abe and Harriet (Mur) Spivack. On August 27th, 1950 she married Murray Gritzman, who preceded her in death in 2007.

She is survived by her son Barry Gritzman of Bethesda, MD and her daughter, Joyce Scheiner and her husband, Richard, of Wayne, PA. She had 4 grandchildren (Meredith married to Christopher, Eric married to Kymberly, Stephanie married to John, and Adam married to Jackie) as well as 9 great-grandchildren (Jackson, Rosalie, Emilio, Eva, Eli, Cole, Wilson, Leona, and Benjamin).

Lorraine was a graduate of James Madison High School in New York.

Selling real estate and creating lifelong relationships was one of her passions. She sold homes in State College and worked for Long and Foster in Montgomery County, Maryland.

Lorraine was a member of Hadassah and was an advisor for the Delta Phi Upsilon Sorority at Penn State University. She was a collector of cookbooks and enjoyed home and garden projects.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College, PA with Rabbi Ostrich officiating.

Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park.
