Obituary of Elizabeth Loczi White

Elizabeth (Bette) White, age 87, died on August 29, 2023, following a severe fall with traumatic head injury. She died in the UPMC trauma center in Altoona without recovering consciousness.

Dr. White was born on March, 9, 1936, in Stowe Township, west of Pittsburgh. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh in 1958 and took a job with the Pennsylvania Department of Highways. She married in 1959 and moved to State College where she entered graduate school at Penn State. She received a Master of Science degree in 1969 and a PhD in 1975, both in civil engineering. She was employed in research positions by Penn State's Materials Research Laboratory and Department of Civil Engineering. Her later years were spent compiling three large volumes of family history and extensive traveling.

Elizabeth is survived by her husband, William B. White of McAlevys Fort; a daughter, Nikki E. White of Burlington, VT; a sister, Eileen Elston of Jacksonville, FL and a brother, Victor, of Olney, MD. A son, Brion, is deceased. She has two grandsons, a granddaughter, and a great grandson.

Elizabeth attended the University Baptist and Brethren Church in State College to whom contributions may be made in lieu of flowers. A private funeral was held on September 7 with a public memorial service to be held at the UBBC Church, 411 S Burrowes St, State College, PA 16801 on Saturday, October 21, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Thomas Beers officiating.
