Obituary of Lenna Marie Gill

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Lenna Marie Gill, 73, of State College, PA. Lenna passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at Hershey Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

Born October 8, 1950 in Wellsboro, PA, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Stanislawa (Sophie) Andrascik. Lenna grew up in Wellsboro and was a 1968 graduate of Wellsboro High School and a 1972 graduate of Villa Maria College earning a bachelor's in Sociology. Following graduation, she began a career in social work with a focus on the geriatric population. She began her professional journey at the Manchester Presbyterian Lodge in Erie and continued on a path to State College where she worked with the residents at Foxdale Village.

Lenna lived a life of service dedicating herself to caring for her family and loved ones as well as the elderly through her social work career. She cherished spending time with her family and followed in her mother's footsteps of being a great cook. She especially loved to create special dishes for family and friends.

Lenna loved to travel and her interest in exploring family roots took her--and the entire family--on several trips to Poland and Slovakia where she got to know and enjoy her extended family. She was truly the most thoughtful person in every aspect of her life, always showing concern and care for the other person.

Lenna is survived by her husband of 53 years Max Gill whom she married on November 28, 1970 in Wellsboro. Lenna and Max shared a long and happy life together enjoying family, friends and travel. Lenna is also survived by her three children of whom she was so very proud: Anne Marie Gill and her spouse, John DiStazio, of Pittsburgh, PA; Andrew A. Gill of Rochester, NY; David John Gill and his wife, Beth, of Rochester, NY; and grandchildren, Elena Gill and Alexander Gill of Rochester, NY who brought special joy to Lenna. She is also survived by her sister Marianne (and husband John) Gaddy of Santa Rosa, CA, her Aunt Mary Ann Parsells of Wellsboro, PA, Max's brother Scot Gill and his wife Rosemary Gill as well as their children--the late Amelia Gill and surviving Patrick Gill and Juliet Gill.

Memorial services will be private for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Lenna's memory be made to Pets Come First or State College Food Bank.
