Obituary of Ruth Leona Heiss

Ruth Leona Heiss, 99, of State College, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at home.

Born October 12, 1924, in Phillipsburg, NJ she was the daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth Morrison Lippincott. On June 20, 1946 she married Raymond F. Heiss, who preceded her in death in 1991.

Ruth is survived by her son, Frederick W. Heiss and his wife, Theresa of State College and a grandson, George M. Socie.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Ann Socie; a sister, Ethel Davidson and two brothers, James Lippincott and Charles Lippincott.

Ruth was the friendly face and voice at the Centre Daily Times, working as a receptionist greeting all who visited.

After retiring, she and her brother, James and his family, enjoyed cruises to new and exciting vistas. Ruth was an avid quilter who created many beautiful coverings for family.

A Memorial Service will be held on January 18, 2024 at 3 p.m., at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College with Jackie Naginey Hook officiating.

Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Altoona at the convenience of the family.
