Obituary of Sergey Bunyatov

Sergey B. Bunyatov, 77, scientist and inventor of State College, died on Tuesday April, 2012 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born February 02, 1935 in Baku, Azerbaijan, he was the son of Bunyat B. and Asia V.Bunyatovs. He is survived by 1 sister Anaida Bunyatova Manukyan and 3 brothers, Albert, Konstantin and Vladimir Bunyatov and their families, also Henry and Daniel Sahakian and their families. Sergey was a graduate 1957 of the Industrial Institute in Baku where he received an advanced degree in electro-mechanical engineering. In 1971 he was bestowed a Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering by The Moscow Energy Institute for the dissertation research on high¬ voltage electrical converters .. Over 40 years he worked in industry and science of electrical engineering where he made a distinguished career both in Baku and Moscow. In Baku, he worked as a Director of the Special Construction Bureau, a Chief Electrical Engineer and the Lab Director at the Electro Technical Research Institute. In Moscow, he served as an university professor at The Moscow Energy Institute, the Chief Engineer of the Moscow Electro-technical Center and the Director of Manufacturing at the Moscow Applied Research Electro-technical Conglomerate. Dr. Bunyatov was an inventor who developed several new electrical devices for various industrial areas, such as oil and gas extraction, coal mining, etc. He published several research papers in peer-reviewed journals. For his work in the field of electro-mechanics, Dr. Buniatov received a Medal of Honor "For 40 Years of Service. In March 1993 Sergey immigrated to the USA. Since then he has lived at State College. He was a fan and enthusiast of the US history taking classes on the US history at Penn State. Actively worked on improving his English skills and considered the US his second homeland. Friends will be received at the Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College, PA 16801 on Friday, April 6, 2012 from 6 until 7:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held Friday, April 6, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Dan Fox officiating.
