Obituary of Charles Brackbill

Charles E. Brackbill, 88, of State College, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at his residence. Born July 15, 1923, in York, he was a son of the late Reverend Moses and Margaret Aungst Brackbill. He married Ann L. Baker on July 29, 1950, they were happily married for sixty-one years and she survives at home. He is survived by three children, Cheryl A. Brackbill, of N. Chelmsford, Ma., Steve C. Brackbill and his wife, Patty, of Boalsburg, Craig E. Brackbill and his wife, Lisa, of San Gabriel, Ca. and five grandchildren; Kieran Brackbill, of N. Chelmsford, Ma., Brian and Allison Brackbill, of Boalsburg and Sarah and David Brackbill, of San Gabriel, Ca. Charles was a 1940 graduate of E. Hempfield High School, Lancaster County. He received his Bachelor's degree from Penn State University in Ceramic Engineering in 1949. He was employed by Murata Erie as a Ceramic Engineer from 1965 until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the American Ceramics Society, Keramos Honorary Society, Life Member of the Penn State University Alumni Association and Lady Lion Cager Club. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College.
