Obituary of Hope Petrosky

Hope M. Petrosky, retired elementary school teacher, passed away at age 90 on May 30, 2012 at the home of her daughter, Sally Yocum in Boalsburg, PA. Mrs. Petrosky was born in Baldwin, Allegheny County, on January 4, 1922, daughter of the late Ralph and Annie (Kuhn) Miller, and sister of the late Ruth McDowell, Helen Vickless, Rita Weis, and Ralph "Bud" Miller Jr. She was a 1940 graduate of Brentwood High School. It was there that she met her husband of 60 years, the late Frank John Petrosky. They married in 1942 while Frank was stationed with the Navy in Norfolk, VA. While living in California, Mrs. Petrosky enrolled in college, beginning her path to earning a degree in Elementary Education, which she completed at West Chester State in Pennsylvania. She taught in the Chichester School District for her entire 19 ½ teaching career. Mrs. Petrosky was devoted to her family and active in St. Timothy's Lutheran Church in Aston. She was an avid card player, enjoyed playing bingo, and the completion of a good game of scrabble. She enjoyed traveling throughout most of the United States and Europe, and regularly attended music festivals and concerts. Mrs. Petrosky is survived by her sons, Paul Petrosky and Samuel (Victoria) Petrosky both of Linwood; daughters, Constance (James) Morris of Morehead City and Sally (David) Yocum of Boalsburg; sister, Hazel Haefner of Cranberry Twp., eight grandchildren; two great- grandsons, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral and burial services will be held at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home & Memorial Cemetery, located at 401 Curry Hollow Road in Pleasant Hills, Allegheny County, PA. Telephone (412) 655-4500. Visitation is Monday, June 4 at 1:00PM followed by a service at 2:00PM Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ, 214 North Church St., P.O.
