Obituary of Charlotte Albright

Charlotte MaudElla Adams Albright, 92, formerly of Marengo, PA, died Wednesday, February 06, 2013 at Greenhills Village in State College, PA. She was born August 1, 1920 at the family home in Reese Hollow, Port Matilda, PA to the late Dorie and Mary Reese Adams. She married Randall Grove Albright on March 24, 1940 at her family home. They celebrated their 72nd anniversary last year with a renewal of their vows arranged by the staff of Elmcroft Senior Living where they lived for more than six years. Randall preceded her in death by three weeks, on January 15. Charlotte, a former member of the Black Oak Evangelical Church, joined the Ross United Methodist Church in 1949. She served as President of the Halfmoon Township Senior Citizens group as well as being a member of the Ferguson Township Senior Citizens group. She actively participated in the activities of the Love and Loyalty Class of the Ross United Methodist Church. She was also a 68-year member of Halfmoon Grange, Centre County Pomona #13 Grange, PA State Grange and the National Grange. Charlotte graduated in 1937 from Port Matilda High School. Charlotte and Randall purchased his family farm and farmed together until 1976. In addition to being a willing tractor driver, she helped with the milking of their dairy herd. She was a homemaker who enjoyed baking bread and canning fresh produce from their garden. Her home had a standing open house for any friend or family in the area. She believed in food, fun, and friendship, and always said, "Add a little water in the pot to make enough for everyone." From 1963 to 1977, she was a cafeteria worker and cashier for the State College Area School District. She always wanted to be a nurse and was very proud of her certificates for completing a Red Cross Home Nursing class and a general Red Cross First Aid class in her spare time. She often assisted others during their illnesses and took several of her brothers and a brother-in-law into her home to care for them in their final days. She enjoyed playing cards, shaking dice, singing, and dancing, but her greatest joy came from children of all ages. Charlotte is survived by four children, their spouses and children. Daughter Judy (Lee) Pressler of Port Matilda, PA, their daughter Melissa (Bill) Gartner and son William; Son Terry (Mary) Albright of Cincinnati, OH, their daughter Debbie (John) Eberhart and their children Kevin, Kenzie, and Kaitlyn, son Stephen (Sarah) Albright and their children Gideon and Evelyn, and son Brian (Stefania) Albright. Daughter Peggy (Jim) Lynch of Columbia, SC, their daughters Karen (Bobby) Royer and daughters Megan, Becky, and Grace, and Amy (Ed) Wilson and sons Alex and Nick Banerjee and Blake Wilson. Daughter Kathy (Dan) Pressler of Carmel, NY and their daughter Julie (Mike) Rice and children Carter, Chloe, and Shelby and son Todd Pressler. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three infant siblings, five sisters, Elizabeth Spicer, Virginia Adams, Laura Goss Dillon, Ellouise Weaver, Mary Peterson Gee, and six brothers, Axel, Mahlon, Gilbert, Paul, Theodore, and Reuben Adams. Visitation will be held at Koch Funeral Home in State College, PA on Friday, February 8 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A Grange service will be held at 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 9 at 10 a.m. at the Ross United Methodist Church, Marengo, PA with Pastor Stephen Durr officiating.
