Obituary of Lauren Wright

Lauren A. Wright, 94, of Foxdale Village, State College, died Feb. 6, 2013. He was born July 9, 1918 to Fred Bray Wright and Verna F. Wright. He spent his youth in Los Angeles, CA and near Golden, CO. He married the love of his life, Myrtle Wright, on May 4, 1962. She preceded him in death Jan. 2, 1990. He is survived by his son Anthony Wright of Helper, Utah. He served in the Army Air Force during WWII as an Arctic Survival Trainer. He received a B.S. and M.S. from the U. of Southern California and his Ph.D. in Geology from the California Institute of Technology in 1952. He was a recognized authority on the geology of Death Valley. He retired in 1985 after teaching geology at Penn State for 24 years. He was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Centre County. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013 at 2pm at the UU Fellowship, 780 Waupelani Dr. Ext. Rev. Mark Hayes will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the Myrtle Wright Memorial Scholarship Fund at State College Friends School, 1900 University Drive Extension, State College, PA 16801.
