Patricia Lee Axt, 78, of Boalsburg, died Saturday, June 22, 2013, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. She was born August 30, 1934, in Bethlehem, PA, to William K. and Mary A. Horvath Gross. She is survived by her husband Paul, to whom she was married on November 2, 1957, her daughters Lisa Axt Alexander, and her husband, Donald, of Bryn Mawr, PA, and Karen J. Axt, of New York, NY. Also surviving are her brother Ronald F. Gross and his wife June, of Westminster, MA; and two grandsons Zachary and Gregory Alexander. She was much loved by her surviving brother-in-law Daniel Axt and sister-in-law Ruth Axt Records, eleven nieces and one nephew and their children, and first and second cousins. Pat graduated from Central Catholic High School, in Allentown, PA, and received her B.A. from Michigan State University. She retired in 1999 after a fulfilling 25+ year career teaching Latin and English, principally at the State College Area High School. Pat had a number of hobbies, foremost including traveling around the world with her husband, expressing her creativity through her culinary talents, and enjoying the out-of-doors - in particular exploring the woods of Pennsylvania with local hiking groups and her family. She was a member of the Red Hats, a patron of the Center for the Performing Arts, an avid reader of foreign writers, and lover of foreign and classic movies. The family will hold a visitation for friends, colleagues and former students at 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., Saturday, June 29, 2013, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. Her ashes will be buried in private ceremonies at Holy Ghost Cemetery in Bethlehem and at Lake Ripley Cemetery, near Cambridge, Wis.
