Obituary of Elizabeth Smeltzer

Elizabeth "Lizzie" Kline Smeltzer, 21 of Boalsburg died early the morning of January 25, 2014. She was born on March 18, 1992 in Modesto, California, and moved to Boalsburg, Pennsylvania in 2002. Lizzie was the daughter of Bonnie and Ken Kline Smeltzer, and sister of Jesse Kline Smeltzer of Boalsburg, Pennsylvania. Liz was a 2010 graduate of State College Area High School and was a part-time student at Penn State University. She was currently employed at the Penn Stater, and had previously worked as a childcare worker at The Learning Station, and had worked at Panera Bread. As a member of University Baptist and Brethren Church, Liz participated in many work camps, volunteering her time and energy to others in need. In 2013 Lizzie traveled to India with a group of women, and was moved by the life conditions of the women and children she met. Lizzie was a force to be reckoned with. Her sparkling attitude brightened any room, and lifted the spirits of those around her. She was a witty and vivacious young woman whose sense of humor remains unmatched. Her laughter was contagious. She loved to cook, Greek lemon soup, pad thai, and almost anything that struck her fancy. Lizzie had an eye for the creative, and enjoyed photography and painting. Liz played soccer in her youth, and more recently enjoyed skiing, snowboarding, and hiking. Lizzie had an enormous heart for children and animals. She loved her two cats, Snickers and Sage, and her two golden retrievers, Maddie and Bubba. She loved and cared for children and had aspirations of continuing her education and work in childcare. But most of all, Lizzie loved her friends, and was loyal to a fault. She also enjoyed a good time and attending concerts. She was known by her friends as a prankster, and also as their "rock." Lizzie died unintentionally of a drug overdose early Saturday morning. Elizabeth will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her brother, Jesse Kline Smeltzer, and her parents, Bonnie and Ken Kline Smeltzer. Friends will be received at the Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street on Wednesday January 29, 2014 from 4 until 7 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the University Baptist and Brethren Church, 411 S.
