Obituary of Esther Scheirer

Esther R. Scheirer, 76, of State College, died Friday, April 11, 2014, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. Born April 24, 1937, in Greenburr, she was the daughter of the late Howard A. and Edna Bletz Day. On February 25, 1956, she married Frank B. Scheirer, who survives. Also surviving is one son, Gregory Scheirer and his wife, Vicki, of Pine Grove Mills; one sister, Doris Day of Lock Haven; one brother, Harry Day of Castanea; one granddaughter, Michelle Grove of Rote. She was a 1955 graduate of Lock Haven High School. Esther worked as an assembly line worker at Gettig Pharmaceutical's from 1975 until 1994 and later worked as a housekeeper at Brookline and the Nittany Lion Inn. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church. Esther was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed baking, gardening and reading. She was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Visitation will be 6 until 8 p.m., on Monday, April 14, 2014, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 South Atherton Street, State College. Friends will be received from 12 until 12:30 p.m., on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at the Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church, 851 North Science Park Road, State College. Funeral service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the church, with the Reverend Bryan Spang officiating. Burial will be in Boalsburg Cemetery.
